On June 8, 2026, Ally Settlement Co. received a call from a property owner who believed something was wrong with the title to their property. What initially appeared to be a single title issue quickly developed into one of the largest deed fraud discoveries our office has seen. Through an extensive review of Allegheny County property records, Ally Settlement Co. identified 35 deeds that appeared to contain fraudulent transfers, affecting properties throughout the City of Pittsburgh . The findings were brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities and currently under investigation.
As reported by WPXI 11 Investigates and CBS Pittsburgh, the suspected scheme involved deeds that allegedly transferred ownership of properties into the names of individuals and limited liability companies who had no legitimate ownership interest using forged signatures and notary stamps. In many cases, property owners had no idea their title had been transferred until they attempted to refinance or otherwise deal with their property.
This discovery highlights the critical role experienced title professionals play in protecting homeowners. If you have concerns about the ownership of your property or believe a deed may have been fraudulently recorded, contact Ally Settlement Co. We are committed to helping property owners understand their rights and identify potential issues.
As part of our commitment to protecting property owners and promoting transparency, Ally Settlement Co. has compiled a list of the properties identified during our review as affected by the suspected fraudulent deed activity. You can view the list here. Please call our office if you have been affected by this activity, and we explain to you what we are doing to to help restore title to your name.
